About Me
My name is Denis Kopylenko and I am photographer from Tel Aviv.
I love street photography. Dynamics of the Tel Aviv streets, a lot of noise and heat.
My favorite photographers are: Garry Winogrand, Robert Frank, Lee Friedlander, Bill Brandt and Daido Moriyama
There is a good quotation by Garry Winogrand (a bit edited by me):
"It always fascinates me - it blows my mind, I mean, when people talk about photographs in depth, ..., when all a photograph does is describe light on surface. That’s all there is! And that’s all we ever know about anybody..., [that is] what we see. I mean, I think we are - our faces, you know? That’s all there is, ..[we are] light on surface."
I photograph for around 9 years. My goal is to keep myself busy. Amongst the other things I did, street photography never brought me any kind of disenchantment. I never became bored or exhausted. No matter how many times I passed along the same streets, sometimes coming across same people, scenery was never the same. The camera always found its angles and frames and new photographs were born.
In August 2013 I started a project of monthly photozines featuring my photographs from the streets of Tel Aviv. This site is about this project.
